I have Tomcat 4.1.24 running on a Windows 2000 test server. A vendor has shipped software to me that runs under Tomcat, but they have only tested on version 4.0.6.
What should I do to install the vendor s'ware? I see three alternatives: (1) Uninstall the 4.1.24 Tomcat and put 4.0.6 in its place; (2) Leave 4.1.24 in place, install 4.0.6 along side it, and have 4.0.6 listen on a port other than 8080; (3) Deploy the vendor app under 4.1.24, since there are no differences between it and 4.0.6 that will be harmful. Both support servlet 2.3/JSP 1.2 standards. I went to the Web site to see if there were docs about differences, but I couldn't find any. (I'll apologize in advance if they're hiding in plain sight.) I can't think of anything other than the vendor's disclaimer about deploying on anything other than 4.0.6 that would prevent me from running under 4.1.24. If anyone has strong feelings about the best path to take, I'd appreciate hearing them. Thanks - MOD __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
