Did you take a look at:
man rpm
Or...
info rpm
...because if you did, you would have seen the following:
--prefix NEWPATH
For relocateable binary packages, translate all file paths
that
start with the installation prefix in the package
relocation
hint(s) to NEWPATH.
--relocate OLDPATH=NEWPATH
For relocatable binary packages, translate all file paths
that
start with OLDPATH in the package relocation hint(s) to
NEWPATH.
This option can be used repeatedly if several OLDPATH's in
the
package are to be relocated.
Don't forget to always check the man and info pages first.
Hth,
Mike

Subject: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apache / Tomcat RPM
how can I tell RPM (Red Hat Packet Manager) to install package in a certain
directory?
I am using Red Hat Linux 7.1
I tried following:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------
#rpm -ivh apache.rpm
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

How can I tell RPM to install Apache in /usr/local (or any other userdefined
directory)?
