Part of the problem is that "du" is either broken or my understanding of how it is supposed to work is broken or minix is broken or my understanding of how minix allocates zones is broken. Since buildit.s uses "du" to set the size of the root minix filesystem ramdisk, everything else is affected if that is screwed up. I'll either have to force it to build on minix. or write some awk that figures out the minix allocation correctly even on the ext2fs filesystems.
