You're assuming that I want to RUN unix.  Nope; I just want a recovery
CD that restores a windows filesystem with as little human
intervention as possible.  Sure, it would be natural to do that while
running an MS operating system, but those tend to be poorly
documented, near-unprogrammable, and so GUI oriented that "batch"
programs are next to unheard of.  (Have you ever looked at the
recovery procedure for windows, assuming that you have a full backup
on a CD?  Grr.)  A system like tomsrtbt that doesn't actually have any
native filesystem on the hard drive is ideal for this sort of thing
(could be, anyway.)  The fact that it's unix need not be known by the
people attempting to recover their system.
