(The point of my question about flaky floppies is not that I use them extensively myself or place much reliance on them -- though, living in a conventional world, I do use them and, not being God, I am no more capable than anybody else at forecasting when a floppy will flake. It's that I sometimes get sent or given them, and then have to make the best of them that I can ...) Thanks again. Fergus
