Exactly the same has occurred to me. So far, I haven't solved it either, but
apparently the SCSI errors start some time after accessing the raw SCSI
devices with the "dd" command (which I'm using to make image backups from
hard disk partitions). The problem might lie somewhere there.
Somebody else told me that his 29160-equipped PC wouldn't work under NT 4
until he got a new driver (the one for 2940 wouldn't do), i.e. these
controllers are not 100% upward compatible.
