Coming back to the problem with the apa1480.
I have tomsrtbt-1.7.218 disk which works with the module apa1480.

I tried to do "the best thing" mainly because the PCMCIA-HOWTO recommends
using a kernel 2.2.x for AHA-1480 PCMCIA.
I followed these steps:
1.- I installed a complete LIBC5 (Caldera 1.3) in my portable just for testing.
(I had a backup of an old installation)
2.- I boot that libc5 system with the kernel 2.2.10 (the one I intend
to put in the tomsrtbt disk).
3.- I compiled pcmcia-cs-3.0.14 in that libc5 system and everything
worked fine.
4.- I booted pcmcia in that libc5 and it worked fine: it recognized
my apa1480, my modem and my ATA/IDE PCMCIA card.
5.- I copied the same kernel 2.2.x to the 1/zImage (Rescue Disk).
6.- I copied the apa1480.o, cb_enabler.o, modules to the disk.
7.- I copied the "cardmgr" to the disk.
Results: the disk boots the system but when I run the "pcmcia start"
I get the message: Kernelversion needed but not found etc...
I think that the origin of the error message must be in the
Rescue Disk (not in the kernel or pcmcia stuff). I said it because I copied
all the staff from the libc5 system where it works fine.
I asked David Hinds (author of PCMCIA module) and he thinks the problem
must be in the "tomsrtbt" system.
Any suggestion where I could search for ?
