I see in your add-ons/contrib directory you have a 3Com module.  This wouldn't be 
necessary for many cases (well, mine at least :-) if you used a newer 3c59x module in 
your kernel.  The latest version is 0.99Qk and you are using 0.99H.  One of the 
differences is support for the "Tornado" 3C905C cards.

I know that you're not into updating individual drivers and I could add it in myself, 
but figured it couldn't hurt to ask!  The 905C cards are pretty popular around here.
