An El Torito image must be 1.44 or 2.88MB. Since Tom's won't fit on 1.44 (unless you
strip it down), you have to go for the 2.88. If you try to create a CD that will boot
on most machines, you may want to consider using 1.44, because some older BIOS's won't
handle 2.88.
Search Tom's list archives - he has a script for creating the El Torito image from his
expanded directories. I think it's stored on his server somewhere, too, but I can't
find the url right now.
I've actually found it easier to work with the El Torito image instead of the floppy
directories. It uses an initrd.gz with everything in there that is easy to mount and
modify. I've got it stripped down to 1.44 and can use the same image for either
floppy or CD. In fact, I've been going to ask here why Tom doesn't use the initrd for
his floppy, too, and you've given me the opportunity now to ask....so, how about it,
Tom? For me at least it seems easier to work with than the hidden stuff on the
floppy. It would simplify your scripts, since the only difference between your images
would be whether they included the add-ons and the size (1722 vs 288).

hi all,
Questions of the day ?
- Can 1722 floppy images be used as El Torito boot images, out of the box ?
- Assuming the answer to the previous question was no. What modifications
are needed to generate 2.88 images ? (settings.s and ... ?).
Things are even harder for me to test than you can imagine... I've got no
CD-R drive, nor floppy to play with :-(
