Hi Tom.

ftp access to toms.net is restricted, and I can understand the
reasons for this. But it has made finding the latest version of
your rtbt difficult to find.

You can remove the link on your web page that points to the
Australian ("down under") mirror, it is not at this URL:

  ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/metalab/system/recovery/

Nor it is in the ibiblio mirror on that site.

For a long long time, it used to be mirrored here:

  ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/tomsrtbt/

but that link disappeared after a site upgrade a few weeks ago.
However, this remains:

  ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/raid/3/tomsrtbt/

which contains versions 1.7.118 and 1.7.185 (dated 18 Oct 1999).

Hmmm.

I know and use mirror.aarnet.edu.au frequently (most of the time)...
it is very close by, fast (for me, VERY fast), and convenient. And
usually very current. But not in this case for tomsrtbt.

The problem for most of the rest of the world is that
mirror.aarnet denies ftp access to anyone coming from an IP that
does not originate within the Australia-NZ-Asia-Pacific region -
so you probably wouldn't know about this problem if you wanted to
check for yourself. (I'm not sure if http access is permitted - I
suspect not, but I'm not able to check that).

I ended up getting what I needed (1.7.361) from
ftp.linux.tucows.com, but it is a pity that this *huge* local
Australasian mirror isn't carrying the latest version of your
VeryFineTool.

I'm not sure how mirror sites work to organise things like this, but
if I can help in any way to get things working again at the aarnet
site, let me know. (The site is in Brisbane, not far from me, and I
know some local contacts where that server lives through the local
Humbug user group).

All the best. Hope your efforts with putting a 2.2 kernel into your
bootdisk is having some success.

Cheers
Tony
