I was under the impression it was needed to create the link between the loopback device and file before mounting it. [From what you've just said this in not the case - so I just reread the man page for mount and I see you can do it that way - Thanks] This was because my working computer is all reiserfs apart from a VFAT partition and I was wanting to unpack the disk to see how to add networking and rsync and a couple of simple shell scripts (I am looking to be able to walk up to a windows only machine and back it up or restore it over the network to a central server ) - -- Alan - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.chandlerfamily.org.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7vU2E1mf3M5ZDr2kRAm7YAJ94weuU8cCEANZkG7dIKXWXfpAxLwCeKmFd Vg+03V2D1ycZb2rTzU3krck= =vXIG -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
