I have no direct experience but when browsing for info on using the USB port with 
tomsrtbt disk, I unearthed the attached unofficial "disk-on-key" how-to by Lyndon 
Roker.

IF you manage to update tomsrtbt to the required later version of the kernel that 
supports USB, I'd be truly grateful if you'd drop me a line about how I can do it too 
- Sadly, I'm too new to Linux to have much of a clue.
