Probably the BIOS can only boot 1.44 images from CDs, and is too
brain-dead to know that it is failing on a 2.88 image.  Try using
a real floppy instead of the CD.  If that is the problem, there
is no simple fix, you could try imaging one as a harddisk but
I've never done ElTorito-harddisk, I only do the ElTorito-2.88.
