[tomsrtbt] dd fails with hdd read-error

i'm using dd to extract disc-images for forensic analysis - in 
case of disk errors (bad blocks) i was used to do a

dd if=/dev/hdx conv=noerror,sync

tom stripped the conversion-options out - is there any way to 
get dd to extract 1:1 images from a hdd with read-errors?

seems that i'm to dumb to compile a static dd thats working with 
tomsrtbt...
