The key here is that a hard-drive booted system may have fundamentally
different requirements, such as, fsck on boot, or umount on shutdown,
which have not been designed into tomsrtbt, which I havn't specified.

You are already way past the point where I would just install Slackware
or DebIan on a small partition.  Why not?
