Hi Chris, To reinforce what Danek suggests, if you could look at the latest attachment to bug #6186 (in particular: http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/attachment.cgi?id=2144) and map your existing package names to the full new names you'd like, that would be really helpful.
Again as Danek notes, package refactoring is not happening at the same time as the Great Renaming. It's complicated enough as it is without adding that in. Thanks. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [pkg-discuss] compiler/tools package names Date: Mon, 20 Jul 2009 18:29:12 -0700 From: Danek Duvall <danek.duv...@sun.com> To: Chris Quenelle <Chris.Quenelle at Sun.COM> CC: pkg-discuss at opensolaris.org, tools-compilers at opensolaris.org References: <4A650A3D.508 at sun.com> You should look at the latest attachments to bug 6186, which is the WOS package renaming bug. That doesn't do any refactoring, though; we want to do this in two stages for what will hopefully be a lower problem rate. Also note that we're doing heirarchical package names, so, for instance, SUNWcpp is slated to become develop/macro/cpp (which you should still be able to refer to with "cpp"). Splitting up the studio packages will be really nice -- the C compiler in less than a couple hundred megs will be awesome.
