getting stranger and stranger, by the minute...

Seems like I'm now stumbling onto roadblocks after roadblocks.

This time around it's libtool that hurls me throught a wall. No matter, I'm fed
up.

I've now created two users onto my dev platform : jfggnu and jfgsun . One will
be setup with Sunstudio's environment for software I'm developing and the other
one will be used for other software (apache, mysql, other configure-enabled
software).

To be honest, people, I'm getting fed up with these conflicts between Sun/Gnu .
I'm aware that it's getting better and better (re: remember Solaris 8 ?), but
still ... now we have /usr/sfw/ , /usr/ucb, /usr/ccs, /usr/gnu, /usr/local/,
/opt/csw/, etc etc. Then again, all my anger might be caused because I can't
understand each directory (except the last 2 ones) role.

I used to develop my apps on Linux. I'd like very, very much to use Solaris /
OpenSolaris for my everyday development at home. I'm a sysadmin at an ISP here
in Canada and we're a solaris shop, of course; most of what I develop at home
might be of some use at work. My main fileserver at home runs on
OpenSolaris/OpenIndiana. Really, I'd like to make it work.. but I give up. For
now on, I'll stick with GCC as much as possible.

(while I've been venting my spleen here, apache compiled properly on the
fileserver, using gcc; no kidding)

So... thanks for your kindness and help. Sorry I've made you lose some time on
my case. I was gratified to see your names in my thread as I know all of you
reading your answers on many other topics in the last 4 years (more for Herr
Schilling as he used to post on the linux kernel mailing lists).

Once again, thank you people.

Regards,
