The other place I manage mailman lists is freedesktop.org, which has a
single button you click on the review page to say "Discard all messages
marked defer" - you then go through and approve all the ones you want,
leave the rest marked defer and click this and they're all gone.

According to the FAQ, this is a feature of 2.1.5 - while it looks like
2.1.4 is on mail.opensolaris.org. Should we/could we upgrade?

(The same FAQ lists the javascript bookmark magic - see:
 http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq03.026.htp )

I believe there is some JavaScript thingy going around that helps with
the mailman moderation page.

Due to my "screw-up" with the hg push I've got a lot of messages
stuck in the mailman moderation queue (once I noticed what I had done
I turned on emergency moderation but many hundreds of messages still got out).

What I've done is temporarily removed everyone from the zfs-crypto-discuss alias. I want to release all of the mercurial based messages from the mailman moderation queue and let them fall into the archives, then reload everyone back onto the list again.

Unless someone can arrange that on the opensolaris.org server I think I need the JavaScript thingy so I don't get RSI based on 900+ requests still in the moderation queue.
