Some folks at Sun seem to have problems with putting information that
should be public into areas where it will be visible on
bugs.opensolaris.org now, I'm not confident that they will do the
right thing with confidential vs. non-confidential info in the future.
However, since I have no "view from within" I may be missing
something.


Various efforts have been made at re-educating people with regard to proper bug filing.... my unscientific numbers seem to indicate they are having a positive impact with new bugs filed.

Largely this is a result of confusion and lack of training. Once, the bugs were completely private. Now, there's confusion about what is private (and what should be). When unsure, the safer thing is to protect information that may or may not be sensitive (of course).

Better tools with obvious protection layers, and training on what should be shared and what must not be, would address this. Steve's helped clarify things a lot, but we could still have much better tools and training.
