There's more than one onnv-gate?  I don't understand how holding the
filesystem mounted would cause problems.

When rollbacks and such are done, I believe they're done in a clone of the gate, then swapped in. Due to use anon@'s mount of the gate tends to never, ever unmount, and thus it always points at the 'wrong' side.

(the joys of NFS file IDs lurk under there somewhere as a cause maybe?)
