Receiving informal confirmation that the contact was possibly made or not made does not alter whether or not a contact really was made. Informal confirmation will not create receiving a QSL when it was not earned and deserved. I'm not advocating chat room confirmation, but I'm not sure what, if any, harm is caused by this practice.
