With the exception of contests, the number of CW stations seems to be hit & miss, at best, on the band anymore...even my plaintive general CQ calls in the early morning hours lately have failed to put in the "usual" 3-4 callsigns in my logbook here ("ZERO" responses is the norm of late). Where is everyone...? Are conditions really all that bad, or has the gang discovered new radio thrills in some other part of the RF spectrum...? ~73~ de Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 02 Mar 2011 06:08:39 +1300 From: Greg - ZL3IX <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Topband: Topband INactivity To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi Eddy, I would say that activity has been fairly normal, but propagation has been above average, especially over the CQ 160 SSB test. My log book has far more entries in it than for any other year since being in ZL (we arrived 10 years ago) Last weekend, John G3XRJ and I even managed an SSB QSO - the first ever. Unfortunately prop seems to be pretty much back to normal now. 73, Greg ZL3IX On 2011-03-02 02:38, Diane and Edward Swynar wrote: > Good Day All, > > Is it just my singular imagination here, or has general activity on > 160-meters declined significantly in the past few weeks...? > > ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 1 Mar 2011 10:19:55 -0700 From: "Wayne Mills" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Topband: Topband INactivity To: <[email protected]> Message-ID: <155F30076EA3415DAA447594C1329D63@HP72472929110> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Greg - ZL3IX Sent: Tuesday, March 01, 2011 10:09 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Topband: Topband INactivity Hi Eddy, I would say that activity has been fairly normal, but propagation has been above average, especially over the CQ 160 SSB test. That may be normal. The first was very noisy, but last night was quiet -- still not much heard in Wyoming.
