I'm in full agreement with this, unless we consider our shack computer part of our "gear". :-)
I could not avoid a severe RFI problem on 75/80 meters without winding my CAT5 network cable around some large #31 ferrite cores. Without that choke, I can hear my TX signal in my computer speakers, which I also have connected to my rig through the sound card (for several very good reasons). I have CAT5 running all over the house, and one run of it is apparently resonant. (And yes, I tried ferrite in various other places on every piece of it that I could get to, and nothing else worked.) I also have a split core around my keyboard cable, to keep it from radiating RFI. 73, Mike www.w0btu.com On Sat, Jul 14, 2012 at 7:21 AM, Tom W8JI <[email protected]> wrote: > > There is no logical or justifiable reason to have different cabinets and > chassis on the desk floating at different RF potentials, and this applies > to every piece of gear. > _______________________________________________ UR RST IS ... ... ..9 QSB QSB - hw?
