Tree et al, So far I have stayed in the background reading all those US based comments. >From an overall perspective- and maybe from a DXCC perspective -I would like to add the following: 1 I do agree that a Remote RX site, just like ZL3IX, VO1HP and many more are using is positive for 160 m operation. That is the natural outcome of Society of today where people live close together, maybe on quite small suburban lots. To me that sounds and feels quite natural. 2 The idea of running a complete station, - TX and R`X - remote is nowadays quite easy, just takes a few? Bucks out of your pocket. Is that HAM radio? To me . NOT!
The latest operation from Navassa Island showed one good/poor example: A station from IT9 worked K1N right thru the US pile up using a US based complete station. To me that is cheating. Do I worry? No, I do have my own record and that is based on what I have reached so far. No one else is interested or cares. Should remote receivers be allowed. 2. There will be cheaters. Let's try to make sure we are talking only one of them. We can argue if remote receivers should be okay for 100 km away - or zero km away - but that is not going to have any impact to #2. From my perspective - allowing them to some degree has NO impact on the cheating aspect.
