Just seen this . . . and so sad to hear the news.
As others have said, Herb was one of the real stalwarts of Top Band DX . . and consistently one of the big signals here in Europe. I think I first worked him back in 1970, a few months after I was licensed. I just looked back in my (paper) Log Book, and my last QSO with him was in October.
