The problem with cages isn't electrical; the thing to consider is physical. If you are in an area where you can have ice you have to consider if your cage and its supports are strong enough to hold ice under high winds. You don't want a relatively inexpensive wire cage to pull down more costly supports that are a lot harder to rebuild. Good idea to build in a weighted antenna that will sag to the ground under a lot of ice, or a fail safe that is easy to fix.
