Studying the fine print, the stand-alone unit needs either USB power or 7.5-10VDC. I've got a couple of 3 Ah Motorola-branded outboard cell phone battery packs that look like they could work with the right adapter cable. I bought them as back-up batteries for my phone. A google search found a lot of options.
