Are the vertical sections of both antennas the same? What size hat? What length is the "L"? Does either antenna have coil loading and, if so, where is the coil located and what is its "Q"? The top loaded vertical is likely to have less high angle radiation. However, the ground losses and, possibly, coil losses of one vs. the other will impact which is the more efficient. 73, ...
