Well I used a Bug Key for most of my life (sadly not a Vibroplex, but a Japanese Semi-automatic I got for my 13th birthday)
What using a Semi allowed you to do was stress some of the Dah characters. For example, when calling in a Pileup, I would always send the first letter of my callsign as Dah-Daaaah-Dit. Similarly, when sending R to confirm someone has your Call correct, I would always send Dit-Daaaah-Dit (twice). I guess some people like that stylised sending, and others don't. (same with my old "pingy" CW note . . . some loved it, others didn't!) I reluctantly changed over to an Electronic keyer about 5 years ago (took some getting used to after 50 years using a Semi!). That was mainly so I could have things in its memory, like long CQ DX calls. 73 Roger G3YRO _________________ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
