Thanks for the info.  I've mostly run into tab, comma, colon, semicolon
files.  However, Medicare seems to use pipe in all of their files.  I've
ended up pre-processing this go-round but the files are 1-2 million
lines each so preprocessing is taking some time (as well as actually
importing them)

no, this option is not supported. You will need to pre-process your
files with a search and replace. I wonder whether pipe is a common
separator.
