I thought about this, yes. But if I need a resolution of 300 dpi and a physical image size of e. g. 16 * 10 cm I need an image of 1800 * 1200 pixels. This is certainly doable. Yet, at least in my experience scaling this image to e. g. 98 % of the size will lead to artifacts if a non-vector file format is used.
