Tim;  Composer reads n3 just the same as an owl file.  Drag/drop it
into a project and double-click to open.

The specific complaint may matter.  Chances are it's that the base URI
doesn't exist (?).  In which case adding a base URI to the file should
suffice.  There could be other problems with the n3 file, so take a
look at the error log or other place where the complaint is specified.
