Rick;  I think what you've done is to create a subclass of the class
rdf:Property.  What you want is a resource whose type is property.
This can be done by changing the type of the resource you created.

...or use the Properties tab to create properties.  To create a
subproperty, click on a property and choose Create Subproperty
