Just to clarify: Scott is talking about XPath operators and functions - these are only partially supported via Jena, and - as he states - SPINx can be used to implement the missing ones. However, TopBraid now has comprehensive XPath support via SPARQLMotion to extract data from XML sources (see my recent blog entry [1]).
