Shooting from the hip.  I don't see why there should be a 1GB limit on
Windows, it should be 4GB.  But in practicality you would not want to go so
high as you want memory available to the JVM for things other than heap.  I
don't have time to do the research to verify right now, but wanted to state
my gut feel.  In any case, you should be able to go to at least 2GB if your
system has it...
