Phil, I have discussed with Holger and Scott on this issue as well. We are thinking that currently and in the long run, the spreadsheet importer could be customized with SPIN rules following the idea on Holger's blog:
http://composing-the-semantic-web.blogspot.com/2009/08/ontology-mapping-with-spin-templates.html The sml:ConvertSpreadsheetToRDF module already creates RDF, and SPIN rules could do rest of the processing. SPIN rules can also be run inside SPARQLMotion. Currently we don't have immediate plans to implement more enhancements to the spreadsheet importer. If they will be easy to implement, I will revisit your requests before the next major release of TBC comes out.
