Proposed Feature: New Blank Diagram option for model visualization Explanation: When I am modeling it is nice if I can drag classes and properties into a blank diagram to visualize those connections I wish to see. Currently I have to diagram a class and then remove any unwanted classes and properties prior to performing my aggregation through drag and drop. I think of this as creating a document by opening an existing document and removing what I do not want and then adding what I do want. No one developing a text formatter would require this of users, but it is required in TBC for modelers.
It has been suggested that the current approach is the correct approach, and to limit what comes up I should modify my preferences. That is extremely inconvenient. My preferences are set so that I can visualize existing classes and their connections. I do not want to change my preferences. Possible Mitigation: The preferred solution is to provide a new feature to the diagramming tool. This would be the most direct and simple solution. Alternatively, if TQ believes that preferences are the way to go, then this feature could be provided by providing configurable preferences. I believe that this latter approach would cause implementation issues and really be more difficult to implement and support. Featur Viability: The modeler I work with all the time creates these types of diagrams in every joint session we have. Since he is an expert TBC user, I know that this is a viable feature to include.
