I'm better now, you led me to the problem, as I was trying to re-create a smaller test case. For reasons quite unclear, I was importing all the SPIN files. Restricting myself to only SPIN.RDF has sorted everything out. I am now using TopSPIN rules only, as I have no present need for any other inferencing. Keeping it simple.
