The aux graph can be used by any application for any reason. Basically, it is a session-specific graph that is alive only with the application/data session. An aux graph is created when an application/data session is started (or at least, once any component in that application requires the aux graph); and once that application/data session ends, the corresponding aux graph is deleted.
