Hi Tim,

in the TBC workspace you will find the project facet.topbraidlive.org, and this contains a file about.html with instructions on how to use this feature. This will hopefully address most of your questions - if not please clarify with specific follow-ups.

Overall faceted search support in TBL is something we want to improve on (after 3.6.0), because we know that it currently does not scale for large models. Medium-sized use cases where all data fits into memory (or cache-all is possible) usually work OK in our experience.

Regards
Holger

Hi,

I need to create a quick faceted search application. SWPs seem to be the best out of the box choice.

I found this initial blog posting (http://composing-the-semantic-web.blogspot.com/2011/04/faceted-search-with-topbraid-and-swp.html) that describes the basic capability. However, the posting alludes to being able to control what properties are available as facets, how to hide properties from being facets, changing the look and feel, etc... I would like to be able to do these things.

Is there additional documentation available?

I found no mention of faceted search in the TBC docs and the first Google hit (searching for "TopQuadrant Faceted Browser) is a slide deck from Willie showing the basics of how to do faceted browsing using TBE.

In addition, when using Faceted Search against a class that has many instances (5600 in this case) when I attempt to add rdf:type as a facet, the javascript call seems to take too long, forcing a timeout in the browser. rdf:type as a facet is critical for my application. How can I add this as a facet without incurring the timeout?

Thanks again for your help,

Tim
