Well, no luck so far,

Jerven, I tried to modify the default app for HTML but it crashes when I 
try to open the Help view (some views I can open, some I cant..).

Trying another desktop environment seemed a good idea as there are quite a 
few bug reports involving gtk, eclipse and kde.
I tried with a basic install of XFCE but it keeps crashing.
I'll try with Mate when I have time during the week and keep the post 
updated.

Mark, you would be so kind to tell me which version of Eclipse does 
TopBraid relies on, it can narrow my searches.
