In TBC, user interface facilitates you defining classes as a sub of owl:Thing. 
That is, of course, unless you decide to choose something else as a parent, in 
which case there is absolutely no need to say that it is also a sub of 
owl:Thing. 

I don't typically use top properties and believe it is uncommon for people to 
do so. Thus, it is your choice.

Both of these things are implicitly inferable.
