yes I have just checked the code and can see that in some cases -
depending on the type of instance you are creating there, it may not use
the parent (Top Level Node here) correctly. I have recorded this defect
and hope to have it fixed for the 7.1 final release.

Selecting Add existing... allows me to add an existing instance to the
hierarchy. The instance readily appears in the tree.

Shouldn't the newly created instance be automatically added to the
corresponding node like the Add existing... option? Not doing so
limits the utility of the Assets Hierarchy to rapidly create instances
in a structured manner.
