I guess this depends on what type of instances/assets you are adding the rdfs:comment to. I just tried it for a skos:ConceptScheme, and there I get a rich text editor resulting in an rdf:HTML literal that preserves the formatting
 This is available for any class at which rdfs:comment has a sh:datatype including rdf:HTML. If it's unclear, would you share a screenshot about where you want the italic font to be used?
