You right about the java version, we advise users to run topcased with
java 5.
About your installation throw the update-site, first you need to
install some required features:
Add the following sites to the software update:
- eclipse monkey & mozilla rhino:
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/dash/update
- Download and install EPF Rich Text Feature 1.5.0.2 from the link:
http://www.eclipse.org/epf/downloads/tool/epf1.5.0_downloads.php
Then you should be able to install topcased.

I've tried to install Topcased through eclipse update manager, but i

I'm using
Eclipse SDK
Version: 3.4.1
Build id: M20080911-1700
and also starting eclipse with the command
eclipse.exe -vm D:\JAVA\JDK1.5.0_16\bin\
because i think i have read something about some problems with the JDK6.
To install Topcased i have followed Installation
Guide v2.pdf.
