+1 for this request (the layout direction is quite strange with inital
state set at the very bottom ...)
Any clue to change the layout? is there an extension point?

My activity diagram is a product of an ATL model transformation. So I initialize the Topcased diagram with the existing elements of the uml file. Unfortunately, I have to do lots of reordering of those elements in the diagram.
Thus, I want to inquire where the layout algorithm for activity diagram is located in the source code.
Is there a way to set the elements of the activitiy diagrams declaratively ? I mean some kind of templates in which I can define that all Action nodes must have a fixed distance to each other and so on.
