Hi Aymenn et All,

I don't have the original mail which raised this question yesterday. Anyway here's the answer to the question.

I checked with version 4.3 and then with version 5.0 of Topcased and it does not support association of item flows on BDD or IBD. I have tried every possible way to create it graphically but there is no possible option to associate item flows. Yes, it is possible to transform a flow specification to Item flow through context menu in outline view, but then what? The other part of the tool does not support the association of item flow on the connector in the properties editing area.

For the moment Topcased is not compliant with SysML specification on this feature.

However, if this information is critical to your diagram, you can put the item flow in a call out from the connector by using a comment and link (is not semantically legal). Your choice.

Here is original question asked by Aymenn last month and after that a few responses

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02259.html (Tristan's reply that they will be available in version 5.0 but they are not.)

I did some more digging into this issue and went back to the Topcased website. What I found was quite surprising.

UML and SysML editor specific features (Updated) -> http://www.topcased.org/index.php?documentsSynthesis=y&Itemid=59 If you look inside this document, on page 4 (What’s new since previous tutorial (4.2)), the link for Topcased 5.0 points to http://gforge.enseeiht.fr/frs/download.php/2933/ReleaseNote4.1.0.pdf

I wonder where Release note for version 5.0 features is.

Even if you ignore this mistake, there is just one new item in diagrams in the presented document, highlighted in "red" i.e. "Tasks in UML/SysML Models (slide 36)". In absence of the right release note it is impossible to say if it is present in release 5.0. Even if it is, I couldn't locate the help on its usage.

SysML help: http://www.topcased.org/index.php?id_projet_pere=20 (No help document but only a specification of editor features and a very elementary example.) UML help: http://www.topcased.org/index.php?id_projet_pere=34 (UML2 Editor user manual (PDF) : v0.7.0 released on 26/01/06)

Finally, only one conclusion can be drawn that "Item flows in SysML" is not supported for the moment. If anyone else has found a way to do it, please enlighten the community.
