I just hit a nasty version of this in a custom Linux build Erinn gave me.
The first time I ran it, I had no toolbar icons. So I rm -rf'd that
directory, untarred it again, and then I had toolbar icons.
We have ourselves a real heisenbug here. Wonderful.
