I've been working on the backporsht approach, which does get rid of the
crash. Unfortunately there is a lot missing from Mozilla's version that
needs to be added back from Kathy and Mark's old SVG patch and I'm still
debugging some issues. I'm opening a new ticket for the backport, because
I think we should go with Mark and Kathy's old patch (with fixup) for now:
