* status: closed => reopened * resolution: wontfix => Comment: >There is no conspiracy here there is >Firefox (which Tor Browser is derived from) dropped support for those older platforms, so Tor Browser had to drop support as well. wrong. Tor Browser is not Firefox, Tor Project is not Mozilla. Tor Project could make necessary changes in Firefox to make it work on legacy platforms. Or Tor Project could select another web browser as base for Tor Browser. >Also, those older systems do not receive OS security updates, which means they are insecure platforms wrong. not receiving updates doesn't make your platform insecure. also, OS updates are used by CIA to push new backdoors to users. automatic update is a backdoor in itself, by design, it can add any code to your software >Tails might be an option for some of the old computers that people are using. Tails is insecure (for example it uses different entry node every time you run it) and how will you transfer files into Tails and from Tails to your normal OS? -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/28960#comment:2> Tor Bug Tracker & Wiki <https://trac.torproject.org/> The Tor Project: anonymity online
